About
I’m Steven Fisher, a developer at Discovery Software Ltd. I can be reached via email. I twitter, too.
Work
I’m a software developer at Discovery Software. I worked on Pearson School Systems’ InteGrade Pro from its introduction at McGraw-Hill School Systems until 2006, and even worked on the predecessor for a year or two. I also co-created Principalm with Christopher Howerton. I’ve also worked on a few data transport applications in 2007/2008, including connections to One Call Now and Intagrade.
Blog
I like writing. In fact, it’s pretty much my favorite thing. I don’t get much of a chance to write, really, so this blog gives me my outlet.
What do I write about? Well, I write about software I like. I write about software I don’t like. I write about good support and sales policies, and I write about bad support and sales policies. I write about news stories that tickle me, or news stories that make me angry. In short, I write about anything and everything.
I write a lot, and I even regret some of my writing later. Oh well. You can’t step in a river twice. I live and grow, just like anyone else.
I use Text Link Ads, and may expand into other advertising programs in the future. I’m not trying to earn a lot of money from this site, but I want my hosting with Dreamhost to pay for itself.
Family
In December 2003 I married my girlfriend of two years, Derlyn Daño. I used to have some pictures up here of her, but every time I refresh my blog they seem to get lost somehow. We had our first son May 13, 2007.
Gadgets
I am a fan of gadgets.
- I do most of my work on this site using a 2.4GHz 13.3″ MacBook.
- My main camera is a Sony Cybershot DSC-P71, which has been discontinued for (I think) quite some time. But it works well, and until I need to move up to a DSLR, it’s good enough.
- I sometimes take pictures with my Sony Ericsson z710i. This is a decent enough phone, but it’s not a very good camera. Pictures usually need to be converted to grayscale.
- Video is taken with a Flip Ultra.
