Granville Island

A couple weeks ago on Saturday, the three of us went to Granville Island. Shortly after getting all the photos, my computer had to go in for repairs (a new logic board). I had all the photos on my external hard drive, but no computer to upload them…
Anyway. We went to a market at my mom & dad’s church. We picked up a few things, but they’d already sold their only china set. So we dropped off our new treasures and headed into town. We drove to the Scott Road park & ride and headed onto the SkyTrain.
Caleb approves of the SkyTrain.
We took the SkyTrain to Science World. Err, sorry, Telus World of Science.
ScienceWorld: Everyone takes this shot.
We walked up to the great machine in front of it, but it doesn’t seem to be working. I wonder how long it’s been broken? It could be years, it’s been at least five years since I was there last.
Caleb wasn’t disappointed, though: He was more interested in the pigeons. This led to a three-way competition between Caleb, daddy and the birds: Caleb trying to touch the birds, the birds trying to be fed but stay out of reach, and daddy trying to keep Caleb out of range of all birds simultaneously.
Bird! Bird!
From ScienceWorld, you can see the AquaBus terminal:
Lousy shot, but including it for posterity.
It’s a fun little trip to the island on the AquaBus. As far as I’m concerned, this is the only way to go to Granville Island.
There’s a neat looking chocolate shop near where the AquaBus lands, but when we finally went through we realized it was pretty disappointing. You can definitely do better at a Purdy’s in a mall.
Cool-looking store.
After that, it was over to The Keg. It had good enough food, but in the end it’s a Keg. If I could do it over again, I would have gone somewhere more unique.
Caleb. Very tired at this point.
Caleb fell asleep in his stroller a few minutes after leaving the Keg, so we did some gift shops. When he finally woke up, we visited a few of the more park-like areas on the island.
Mommy and Caleb in the park.
AquaBus last sailing was fairly early, so we headed back to ScienceWorld.
Caleb and Daddy.
He was really interested in the birds and boats on the way home. Every bird was a duck, regardless of species.
After getting back to ScienceWorld, we took the SkyTrain down to Water Front and rode across the SeaBus before turning around and heading home.
