Hex color picker for Mac OS X

Here’s a handy tool for any Mac OS X user editing HTML: Hex Color Picker. It adds a hex panel to Mac OS X’s color picker. In addition to allowing you to pick colors by hex value, you can pick a color some other way and see the hex value.

Where Vista Fails

Not even Paul Thurrott can positively spin Vista anymore. But we do not and should not expect to be promised the world, only to be given a warmed over copy of Mac OS X Tiger in return. Windows Vista is a disappointment. There is no way to sugarcoat that very real truth.

Okay, I understand why, but it still strikes me as funny: “The reason that the virus is not propagating itself in the latest kernel versions is due to a bug in how GCC handles specific registers in a particular system call. [Linus] has coded a patch for the kernel to allow the virus to work on even the latest Linux kernel.” And, later: “Leave it to open source hackers to debug and fix aging viral code so that it works correctly.” Full story here.

Via digg, Dratz explains how his refund policy differs from store policy. This sent me into a fit of laughing. I can understand the trick and see how it works, but I don’t think I’d do it quite so unapologetically.

Schlock Mercenary: Under New Management

Howard Tayler has released the first Schlock Mercenary book, Under New Management. I’ll be placing my order in a few days. If you like science fiction and/or military humor, you’ll probably love it. The book was apparently put together with the help of Steve Troop of Melonpool, my other favorite comic (on those months that he updates).
